Project Objectives:

The Slovenian Forestry Institute, in collaboration with the lead partner "Model Forest Istra," aims to contribute to the development of forest pedagogy in Croatia through the project "In the Forest as in the Classroom". This will be achieved primarily by educating professionals and employees in partner organizations.

The primary objective of the project is to train preschool and elementary school teachers to implement forest pedagogy.

Partner organizations involved in the project will educate their employees through knowledge and experience exchange in forest pedagogy. The achievement of this goal will enhance the educational competencies of teachers and educators.

Special attention will be given to the implementation of forest pedagogy methods for working with children with special needs. The project will initiate the certification process for forest educators in Croatia.

Activities of the Slovenian Forestry Institute in the Project:

Within its activities, the Slovenian Forestry Institute will enhance its own competencies and knowledge in forest pedagogy through knowledge and experience transfer. Additionally, it will assist project partners in developing educational materials and a forest pedagogy program, which will be implemented in kindergartens and schools in the Istria and Lika regions. Key activities planned by the Slovenian Forestry Institute include:

  • A 2-day seminar on forest pedagogy in Slovenia: Education and knowledge transfer among project partners, as well as teachers and educators from Slovenian kindergartens and schools. Conducting a training session on forest pedagogy.
  • Training future trainers of forest pedagogy in Istria: Model Forest Istra, in collaboration with the Slovenian Forestry Institute and partners from Istria, will conduct the 2nd training session on forest pedagogy.
  • Training future trainers of forest pedagogy in Lika: Pučko otvoreno učilište, in collaboration with the Slovenian Forestry Institute and Model Forest Istra, will conduct the 3rd training session on forest pedagogy.
  • Development of educational materials for conducting forest pedagogy training, which will outline guidelines for training forest educators. A section of the manual will focus on working with children with special needs.
